When we received a large shipment of arariba, initially to be used for accessories, were couldn't bear to cut this beautiful, highly figured lumber into small pieces! Normally the white sapwood is removed at the sawmill before shipping to lumber distributors, but clearly some boards with mixed heartwood and sapwood were included in our shipment. Fortunately, we received an order for a large desk about this time. Our customer was pleased with the contrast of colors and grains and was happy to have her desk made from this lumber. The design and construction are relatively straight forward. The only non-standard feature is the large modesty panel that forms the front of the desk. While this was a practical requirement of our customer, it provided a wonderful opportunity to further showcase the beautiful and unusual wood grain.
